Puzzle for October 24, 2008A 63-Year-old schoolteacher was the first person to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel on this day in 1901. Annie Edson Taylor used a 5 foot high by 3 foot across pickle barrel packed with cushions to protect herself and was towed out to the middle of river by a small boat and cut loose. She had hoped to become famous and wealthy after her 20 minute stunt but her fame quickly faded. She did inspire some copycats however. Over the next 94 years 15 people went over the falls, 10 of them survived. What's the survival rate of this activity? |
