Puzzle for October 8, 2008

This week is Fire Prevention Week.

It commemorates the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 which killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, and destroyed more than 17,000 buildings over October 8th and 9th.

That tragedy inspired reform across America, spurring new fire safety codes and public awareness campaigns.

According to the National Fire Prevention Association, in 2006;

  • Roughly 150,000 home fires started in the kitchen and killed 440 people
  • Roughly 14,100 fires started in the Living Room and killed 690 people
  • Roughly 30,400 fires started in a bedroom and killed 690 people.
  • So here's the question, which room is "the most dangerous"? And how did you decide that?
